What has got into you?

So many years of experience, yet barely noticed. A hero now, but what comes next…?

What will I be then? Or must I keep proving myself? Hoping that this tribute endures and contributes to the recognition of the nursing profession. International Nurses Day marks the birth of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

What has it brought us?

Look at the evolution the nursing profession has undergone. The evolution you have undergone as a healthcare professional. The healthcare professional you can become by unwrapping your true self—shedding the layers that bind you. Literally and figuratively. The profession is in flux, calling for new identities. Is that true? Is it true for you? The influence of the nurse has gradually faded. How did that happen? Where did we let it slip away?

Healthcare is divided, and in some areas, even torn apart from within.

You see a sense of powerlessness, anger, passivity, fatigue, undervaluation, a lack of understanding, ambiguity, and so on. Yet, there is another side to the coin. Division leads to conflict. Listening to one another allows us to truly meet. It also requires letting go and allowing for disruption. Disruption demands space and a state of ‘Being.’ Infusing that space and that state of ‘Being’ with spirit and purpose is the challenge for the healthcare professional who is evolving and unfolding.

Can we keep this up? Are we being taken seriously? Amidst all this turbulence, both you and the healthcare sector must manage to stay standing. No one can shoulder this situation alone. Falling ill or leaving will ultimately be the only options left.

Setting boundaries and being valued for your professional worth brings clarity. Stand up! Where do you want to go? Do you find true purpose in what you do? What is it that you really want? Will you choose what truly drives you? Will you choose growth? It is the soul that gives you the drive to move forward. Where do you want to go?

Do you stand up for yourself and your profession? Make your voice heard loud and clear. This is who we are. This is what we stand for!

A vital healthcare professional means vital healthcare.
