Bring out the best in eachother
Traditionally, the dark days leading up to Christmas are viewed as a journey toward the light. The new year is just around the corner, a new year filled with new possibilities. It is also a time to look back and reflect… How was the past year? What has taken place?
What stories can you tell about it? What is your story? Stories are the essence of life. When I look back at 2019, I see ‘unrest’ across the globe. What does this tell us? It seems as though the luster has faded.
Let us wish each other a beautiful story for 2020, big or small, it doesn’t matter. A story rooted in trust, respect, love, and caring for one another. Truly caring for each other in every way. Not leaving people out in the cold, regardless of whether the gesture is small or large.
“Let us look out for one another in 2020. Let us restore the luster to each other’s lives.”
Every country has its own rituals for bidding farewell to the old year and welcoming the new one.
Think of traditions such as fireworks, end-of-year comedy shows, the ritual burning of something (like a wish or a large effigy), year-end cleaning, taking to the streets with pots and ladles to make as much noise as possible, jumping off a chair into the new year, gathering together, eating and drinking, eating 12 grapes at the stroke of midnight, consuming one with each chime for prosperity and good fortune, sprinkling or spraying each other with water, and so on.
What ritual do you have?
