Nightingale Power!

We are still standing in the hallway when she gets straight to the point.
‘Do you know what I miss? That Nightingale Power!’
Nightingale Power?
‘Tell me, what does Nightingale Power mean to you? What do I see when you have Nightingale Power?’
She leans forward, her pupils dilate, her face flushes, and she says in a powerful voice, ‘Don’t you know?’
Er…
‘Nightingale Power means being a driven nurse who stands up for the sick, for people who are underserved or marginalized. You want to bring about change, identify the root of the problem, and map it out. Cause and effect. What is present and what is missing. Prevention! Being sharp and driven. Do you understand?’

‘And I can’t do it…’
‘What is it that prevents you from accessing the Nightingale Power?’
‘Just because,’ she says. She slumps back into the chair, the energy draining out of her. Her arms hang limp at her sides.
‘What do you mean by “just because”? What does “just because” look like to you?’
She shrugs. ‘Well, just… I don’t know.’
‘Are you hiding behind the Nightingale Power, or do you possess that driving force to stand up for who you are as a professional?’
She looks at me, eyes narrowed, filled with uncertainty.

We continue our conversation, exploring her values, her deep-seated motivators, and reflecting on how they align with her work.
Her top three values are Drive, Integrity, and Reform.
She exclaims, ‘I do have that Nightingale Power! I let it slip away myself, so I can change it back myself, too!’
She walks out the door, firm and full of energy.
This nurse, who thought she had lost it, she has found it again: her own Nightingale Power.

Values are deep motivators. They serve as our benchmark. They guide our decisions.
Values always seek fulfillment; otherwise, the Soul cannot come along for the journey.
Values often end in suffixes like ‘-ing’ or ‘-ness’ (or ‘-ity’).

Do you know your values? Do you know what drives you?
Have you lost or forgotten something, and do you want it back?

There is nothing I love more than helping you move forward.

Above all, it is important that you:

  • Truly want it yourself
  • Dare to act
  • Have the courage
  • Dare to face difficult challenges
  • Understand how to make choices and start seeing opportunities
  • Create your own opportunities
  • Believe in your own abilities and know there is much more to you than what you currently show.

Do you also long for your own Nightingale Power? Then the choice is simple, isn’t it?
